Single Implant, Multiple Implants or Full-Arch: Which Fits You?

Replacing one tooth is a different decision to rebuilding a whole arch. Here is how each option works and what daily life is like with them.

One missing tooth: a single implant and crown

The neighbouring teeth stay untouched, the bone under the gap is preserved, and the crown is cleaned exactly like a natural tooth. This is the standard of care for a single gap where the adjacent teeth are healthy.

Several missing teeth in a row: an implant bridge

Two implants can support a three- or four-unit bridge, so you do not need one implant per tooth. Placement is planned so chewing forces are shared evenly and the bridge can be cleaned underneath.

A whole arch: fixed teeth on four to six implants

When most teeth in an arch are missing or failing, a full-arch fixed prosthesis anchored on four to six implants restores a complete set of teeth that does not come out at night.

Angled posterior implants often allow the case to be completed without bone grafting, and a fixed temporary bridge is usually delivered within 24–72 hours of surgery.

How to decide

The deciding factors are bone volume on CBCT, the health of remaining teeth, bite forces and how much cleaning access you can manage at home. A consultation with a written plan should always precede any commitment.
